Tuscany Wedding Venues: Castles, Villas and Borghi Worth Knowing

From the hills of Florence to the Val d’Orcia

Tuscany wedding venues: the villa and medieval village of Il Borro among the hills

October 26, 2026 · By Luca Cristofari

Tuscany is where many couples imagine their wedding before they've even chosen a date. Cypress avenues, stone walls, long tables in the garden and a glass of Chianti at sunset. The good news is that the region really looks like that. The less obvious news is that it's big, and Tuscany wedding venues an hour apart can feel like different countries.

Here are the venues we know first-hand, plus a few others couples often ask about, grouped by area.

Around Florence

Villa Corsini a Mezzomonte. A Renaissance villa in the hills south of Florence, with Italian gardens, statues and frescoed rooms, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. We filmed Jenna & Jameson's wedding there, and the dinner under the frescoes is one of my favorite rooms in Tuscany.

Closer to the center, the villas of Fiesole and the hills around Florence offer views of the dome and an easy ride for guests staying in the city. More on our Florence wedding photography page.

The Valdarno: Il Borro

Il Borro. A medieval village and estate between Florence and Arezzo, restored by the Ferragamo family, with an Italian garden, a villa and its own vineyards. Guests can stay in the village, which makes it perfect for a whole weekend. We filmed Remy & Toby's wedding and photographed their welcome pizza party.

Siena and Chianti

Castello di Celsa. A castle just outside Siena with a circular chapel, Italian gardens and woods all around. We photographed and filmed Morgan & Ryan's wedding there, and their welcome dinner with a pizza oven in the garden.

Borgo Vescine. A restored hamlet in the heart of Chianti, surrounded by vineyards. Perfect for a relaxed, al fresco wedding: we photographed a summer wedding there full of wildflowers and wicker baskets.

Borgo Santo Pietro and Castello di Casole. Two luxury estates in the countryside west of Siena, known for their gardens, their food and the privacy of an exclusive stay.

Val d'Orcia and Maremma

South of Siena the landscape opens up. Around Montalcino, estates like Castiglion del Bosco combine medieval buildings with five-star comfort, while in the Maremma, Castello di Vicarello is a family-run castle with a handful of rooms and a very personal atmosphere. These are places for couples who want space, silence and the softest light of the region.

How to choose between Tuscany wedding venues

  • Close to Florence if many guests want to spend time in the city.
  • Chianti for the classic image of vineyards, cypresses and stone.
  • Val d'Orcia for wide landscapes and privacy.
  • An estate with rooms if you want everyone under the same roof for the weekend.
  • Remember that country roads are slow. Count the minutes between the venue, the hotels and the church, if there is one.
