Villa Corsini a Mezzomonte: A Frescoed Wedding Villa near Florence

Jenna & Jameson, in May

Villa Corsini a Mezzomonte sits on the hills of Impruneta, about twenty minutes south of Florence, looking out over vineyards and olive groves. It's one of those places where you can stand in a frescoed loggia, turn around and see Tuscany exactly as you imagined it. Jenna & Jameson had their Villa Corsini wedding there in May, and we filmed their day.

Frescoes, lemon trees and a view

The villa has centuries of Florentine history painted on its walls and ceilings, and an Italian garden with lemon trees in terracotta pots, statues and gravel paths. The tower and the main façade look over the valley, and on a clear day you see the hills roll all the way toward the city.

A first look in the garden

Jenna & Jameson chose to see each other before the ceremony, in a quiet corner of the garden. I'm a big fan of first looks at villas like this one. You get ten minutes alone, real reactions without a hundred guests watching, and the portraits are done before the ceremony, so the evening belongs to your guests.

The ceremony

Jameson waited at an altar of white and green flowers among the statues, and Jenna walked down the aisle with her father. From the drone the ceremony looks tiny, framed by hedges and vineyards, which tells you a lot about how much space this villa has around it.

Dinner beneath the frescoes

Dinner was set in the loggia, under the painted vaults, on long tables dressed in green with white and deep red flowers. Later there were sparklers at the head table and fireworks over the garden. In the film this is where the music opens up, because the room asks for it.

Planning a wedding at Villa Corsini

  • May and June are lovely: green hills, long evenings and warm but not heavy days. September is the other sweet spot.
  • Being so close to Florence, guests can stay in the city and reach the villa in about twenty minutes.
  • Consider a first look. The garden gives you privacy, and the light before the ceremony is often the best of the day.
  • Ask about the loggia for dinner. Eating under the frescoes is the moment your guests will talk about.
